2009 is an important year for us as it marks TICA’s Silver Jubilee. On 9 September 2009, TICA will turn 25 years – an impressive legacy of industry solidarity. TICA is pleased to announce that the 2009 TICA Annual General Meeting (AGM) has been scheduled for 20 March 2009 at The Landmark Bangkok Hotel.
This year’s AGM will include the election for New Board of Directors members. Nominated BOD members shall serve a 2-year term, starting from April 2009 – April 2011.
Also included in the AGM’s itinerary is the formation of new committee members for the 3 committees namely, the Marketing Committee, Membership & PR Committee and the Services Development Committee.
More information concerning the AGM shall follow soon. If you have any questions concerning the upcoming elections, please do feel free to contact TICA directly.

By invitation of the Thai Hotels Association - Northern Chapter, TICA in co-operation with TCEB and Thai Airways International organized a famtrip inviting a total of 36 invited buyers who are domestic corporate executives to the Rose of the North - Chiangmai. This trip was dubbed “Star Choice” as it focused on inviting only the top Buyers who organize a high number meetings and incentives annually.

The 3-day famtrip took participants to a number of “unseen” Chiangmai products which both amazed and exhilarated all attendees. Among the key highlights were the Horizon Village & Resort – a resort which manages and operates a privately owned botanical garden with over a thousand types of trees and plants, and the Royal Flora Ratchapruek Exhibition – now open for public viewing on a permanent basis. Only included in the itinerary was a 60-minute traditional Thai “Spa” treatment for all delegates.
Among the programme was also a table top exhibition session where invited buyers were given the opportunity to meet and discuss possible business with TICA and THA North Chapter members; total 26 exhibiting organisations.
A short workshop on “Available Market Segments & How to Capture Them” was organized for suppliers participating at the exhibition as well as an inter-active workshop for Buyers to evaluate Chiangmai as a MICE destination as well as a discussion session on some of the “best” and “worst” experiences for these premier MICE planners.
A Lanna Theme Welcome Dinner & Reception on Friday, 19 December was hosted by Imperial Chiangmai Resort in a garden setting where participants were able to experience the cool winter climate of the North.
Hosted accommodations were provided by 4 TICA member hotels namely Shangri-La Chiangmai, The Empress Chiangmai, Imperial Mae Ping and Le Meridien Chiangmai. As well as breakfasts on Saturday, 20 December 2009 hosted by the Empress Chiangmai Convention Centre and Sunday, 21 December 2009 hosted by the Imperial Mae Ping.
Lunch as well as Team Building Activities on Saturday, 20 December 2009 was hosted by the Horizon Village & Resort.
