In keeping with the celebrations of TICA’s 25 years, we wish to seek all members’ kind assistance to contribute any old photographs and memorabilia for our celebrations in 2009. We assure all contributors that all borrowed items shall be returned to the respective owners once the celebrations are over. Any suggestions you may on how we can mark this special Silver Anniversary Year are also welcome and may be sent to TICA directly to E-mail: info@tica.or.th.

Additionally, TICA is conducting a survey to gauge the consensus for members’ interest in attending EMIF ( Brussels , Belgium : 18-19 March 2009) and Incentive Works Canada Meetings & Promotions Show ( Toronto , Canada : 25-26 August 2009). 2008 Convention Promotion Seminar (CPS) & Conventions Exhibition (CONVEX)

29-30 September 2008: Bangkok Convention Centre (BCC), Centara Grand @ CentralWorld

TICA recently organized the 2008 CPS and CONVEX, where a total of 158 local government agencies and local association executives attended the 2-day event. The 2008 event marks 15 years of educational success for both the CPS and CONVEX, and is perhaps one of the more interactive conferences organised by TICA. This year’s event was officiated by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s, Khun Udom Metathamrongsiri, on behalf of Khun Phornsiri Manoharn, TAT Governor and TICA’s President.

The CPS and CONVEX is the association’s most successful and largest scale conference, with the objective of encouraging local associations and government agencies to bid for and host international events by providing a broad perspective on the benefits of hosting international events as well as available support provided by not only TICA, but also other supporting government bodies such as TCEB, the Customs Department, the Immigrations Department and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), including the national carrier, Thai Airways International Plc.

CONVEX & CPS are co-hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Airways International Plc and TCEB, and is under the responsibility of the Services Development Committee, headed by Khun Prachoom Chayabongse its Chairperson. The event was MC-ed by Khun Naruemol Sukhum, TICA’s Executive Director along with Khun Prachoom as the moderator for all panel sessions.

The educational session kicked-off with an introduction of the association, its objectives and services provided to event organisers, presented by Khun Sumate Sudasna, TICA’s Secretary General under the topic, “The Role of TICA in International Conferences”.

This was followed by a presentation concerning, “The Convention Promotion Fund” by Khun Vimla Tritasavit, Convention Promotion Fund Chairperson; a project managed by TICA as a value-add service to event organizers.

Among the main highlight plenary panel sessions is the timely, “Maintaining Thailand’s Image in Challenging Times – How to Manage the Media in Relation to International Conferences”; panelists for this session were Khun Juthaporn Rerngronasa, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, Tourism Authority of Thailand; Khun Natwut Amornvivat, President, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Khun Apirat Sugondhabhirom, Director News Division, Department of Information, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and Khun Phenthip Chomprang, Managing Director, EQ Equinoctial Co., Ltd.

Financial Planning” by Khun Panithan Bumrasarinpai, Senior Vice President, QSNCC and “Setting Up Command Central: Things You Need to Know Before Setting-Up Shop” by Khun Eunice Gan, MICE Consultant.

This year’s CONVEX showed off a total of 53 TICA members’ services and products at the Table Top Exhibition Session where members met organisers to contract future business.

The 2-day event emulated a full conference experience where delegates were provided hosted accommodations by TICA members, including transfers and transportation options. This was done with the intent to use the CPS & CONVEX as a platform to showcase, as well as, to provide a case study to attending delegates.
