The Executive Committee would like to thank all TICA members for their support and contribution to the recent 25th Anniversary activities conducted since the start of the year. The Silver Jubilee Celebrations on 27 October 2009 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre was very well attended and displayed once again industry solidarity and pride to not only the association but also to the industry and hopefully the government.
No doubt all members received the TICA 25th Anniversary Supplement with your morning paper on 27 October 2009 in the Bangkok Post and Post Today newspapers. The supplement received wonderful support from members and no doubt gave the association valuable boost in terms of publicity.
On a sadder note, you will have by now received Khun Naruemol Sukhum’s, TICA Executive Director, farewell note to all TICA members. From all of us at TICA, we wish her all the best in her new endeavour and will no doubt seek her contribution to the association as a member of TICA. Good luck Khun Naruemol !

TICA Executive Director Tenders Resignation (effective 1 November 2009)
|
|||||||||||||||||
|
Khun Naruemol Sukhum, TICA Executive Director, has tendered her resignation from the association effective as of 1 November 2009 and has been appointed as the Executive Assistant Manager - Marketing at the Montien Riverside Hotel.
Khun Naruemol joined TICA in February 2006 as its Executive Director and during her 4-year tenure refined a number of services for TICA members. She will definitely be missed by its members and staff but will however still be part of our MICE industry and we can no doubt count on her contribution as a fellow member.
In closing, although Khun Naruemol will no longer be at the TICA office, there is really no need for a tearful goodbye as she remains an important an element of TICA, as one of its 296 members.

TICA-TCEB Domestic Corporate Familiarisation Trip to Kanchanaburi30 October – 1 December 2009
|
|||||||||||||||||
TICA and TCEB recently took a total of 30 local Corporate Human Resource/Personnel Executives on a familiarisation trip to Kanchanaburi as part of our effort to promote more local-based meetings and incentives activities within the country.
The group were given a send off from TICA President, Khun Sumate Sudasna at Hua Lumphong Train Station to start of an exciting whirl wind trip which took buyers to Nakhon Pathom for a visit to Sanam Chan Palace, a wonderfully restored palace built by King Rama VI.
At Sanam Chan Palace, guests were treated to a surprise traditional Royal Thai lunch and taken on a tour of the palace’s various structures and reception areas. The Palace holds an antique theatre where plays are still performed on every weekend. Sanam Chan Palace is still today visited by members of the Royal Family and also accepts bookings for special events.
From Nakhon Pathom, buyers boarded a coach for the 2-hour drive to Kanchanaburi. Among other highlights is Prommitr Studios where the sets and props for the King Naresuan epic movie remains intact and is open for public viewing.
Probably one of the most fascinating visits was the visit to the Pak Praeng Walking Street, a 177 year old street that features many antique buildings, open to the public on weekends as a night bazaar selling all kinds of knick knacks. The most prominent building on the street is the Portuguese style building that has been beautifully restored and is now a coffee shop, as well as an old Chinese Temple.
The delegation also visited Ban Had Ngiew School as part of its CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity contributing books and stationary to the school. The group also partook in planting vegetables for the school’s lunch programme in pre-prepared plots with of course a helping hand from the school kids. The activity concluded with participants helping serve kids with a simple lunch followed by ice cream for all.
The invited buyers also visited a number of properties in Kanchanaburi namely • Felix River Kwai Resort • Resotel Kaeng Rawa • Xen Hideaway Resort • Royal River Kwai Resort • Monsane Muang Kan Resort •
The delegation also visited Rock Valley Hot Springs & Spa which features a natural hot spring and fish therapy (Dr Fish).
The Felix River Kwai Resort provided a wonderful surprise on day 1 of the trip by providing Krathong (floats) for delegates which served as an early Loy Krathong celebration for the group, after the dinner cruise aboard its raft. At day 2 of the trip, delegates awoke bright and early to give alms to local monks.
Apart from site visits, a Table Top session was also organised, to give invited buyers the opportunity to meet TICA members and invited suppliers within the area, compliments of the local TAT Office who also made a presentation on the various attractions that can be found in Kanchanaburi.
As a value-add to the Table Top session, exhibitors were provided with a brief seminar on, “Flexible Marketing During Volatile Times,”conducted by Khun Prachoom Chayabongse, Chairperson of the Marketing Committee.
Likewise, buyers were also treated to a short seminar entitled, “How to Create a Wow” in an effort to provide these high profile meeting organisers with tips and ideas for event themes, also conducted by Khun Prachoom Chayabongse.
The familiarisation trip was conducted by NS Travel & Tours Co., Ltd.
